Manufacturing industries often need to keep a close check on tooling within the workplace to ensure that they are maintained and calibrated regularly so that they're fit to be used on a job.

Tooltrak software has helped to do this very easily and offers much more than just a reminder for calibrations and maintenance. It's simply the easiest and most cost effective way to monitor tooling and consumable stock items being issued within the workplace, all without the risk of human error. (END BOLD)

Once items are registered onto Tooltrak's database with upto three unique identification numbers used for full traceability it will allow you to monitor their movements using either barcodes or RFID tags placed onto the tools. They can then be issued into the workplace on a daily basis using either the PC software or you can opt to use the portable barcode/ RFID tag reader and simply scan the tools as well as recording the job number or person taking it. Tool returns are even easier of course as you only need to record the tool number again to ensure that a quick transaction takes place. All issues and returns are automatically dated and timed and the information can then be collated into a number of different in-built reports and graphs to highlight which items are currently: Out on loan; Due for calibration ;Low on stock etc.

Tooltrak monitors and records all calibration and maintenance schedules - any tools that have an expired calibration date or have been used for a pre-set amount of times are automatically prevented from being issued at the due time or even in 24 -48 hours in advance in some cases. All maintenance and calibration events can be recorded to give you a comprehensive history of all tooling including everyone who has used them or worked on them. Revisions of tools and fixtures can also be recorded.

Tooltrak will also monitor issues of consumable stocks (non -returnable items). There's a spreadsheet format viewer screen for the database which is complimented with a purchase order/ requisition generator enabling you to totally control all consumable stocks and monitor your supplier performances.

In addition to these standard features, the Tooltrak system can also work in conjunction with a range of both static and mobile tool cabinets which can be issued out directly into the workplace for line side delivery of tools. Each cabinets is programmed individually using either the PC software (via network or RS232) or for easier access a mobile PDA device (see picture 3).

Each cabinet is programmed to allow only a selected number of authorised users to access the tools within them and they can record all accessed transactions. Authorised entry is gained using a simple swipe card system on the side of the cabinet (barcode, mag stripe and proximity card reader options available) and afterwards the drawer is closed again to automatically lock itself, keeping the tools safe and secure inside.
